Work With Me

As an expat myself, I've been there, and our mental health can be a challenge when a cultural adjustment is needed.

I understand the importance of feeling included, loved, and seen.  We are all different, and our reasons or motivations to be an expat are unique to each of us, but the uprooted nature of living internationally can be draining.

The bright light excitement, and the leap of faith into a new experience can feel: lonely, disconnected, a loss-of-self or identity, romantic relationship struggles, creating meaningful lasting friendships, exhausting, needing to de-attach, avoiding, keeping busy or falling into unhealthy lifestyle patterns.

We may possibly be even lying to loved ones at home in an attempt to pretend that everything is ok while we are away, in an attempt to protect them from worrying about us.

Whether you are a settled expat or travel regularly for work commitments, I go where you go. Therapy services on the go to accommodate the busy schedule of an expat.

Frequently Asked Questions: Expatriates

Why can expat life feel emotionally overwhelming, even when everything looks successful on the outside?

Many expatriates move abroad for opportunity, lifestyle, relationships, or career growth, but emotional struggles can quietly build underneath the surface. Living away from family, familiar routines, and emotional support systems can create loneliness, anxiety, relationship difficulties, burnout, or a loss of identity. Expats often feel pressure to be grateful or “make the most of it,” which can make it even harder to admit when they’re struggling emotionally.

Can online therapy help with expat loneliness and relationship struggles?

Yes. Online therapy for expatriates can help you navigate loneliness, emotional disconnection, dating struggles, homesickness, cultural adjustment, or relationship stress while living abroad. Many expats experience attachment anxiety, emotional shutdown, or difficulty maintaining healthy relationships when they feel unsettled or unsupported. Therapy provides a grounded space to slow down, reconnect with yourself, and better understand what’s happening emotionally beneath the surface.

Why do I feel disconnected from myself since moving abroad?

Relocating internationally often changes more than our environment, it can shift our identity, relationships, routines, and sense of stability. Many expats in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and other international cities describe feeling emotionally detached, constantly busy, or unsure who they are outside of work or survival mode. Therapy can help unpack the emotional impact of expat life, reconnect you with yourself, and create more balance between achievement and emotional well-being.

Is therapy for expatriates only about homesickness?

Not at all. Expat therapy often explores relationship patterns, emotional exhaustion, anxiety, burnout, loneliness, grief, dating struggles, and attachment issues alongside cultural transition. Sometimes the move abroad amplifies emotional patterns that were already there underneath. Therapy can help make sense of those patterns while building healthier coping strategies, emotional regulation, and stronger relationships.

Do you offer online therapy internationally for expats?

Yes. I work with expatriates and international clients across Dubai, Abu Dhabi, the wider Middle East, the UK, Europe, the USA, ranging from New York, Washington, Florida, Miami through confidential online therapy sessions. Many of my clients are high-functioning professionals, couples, or individuals navigating emotional overwhelm, relationship difficulties, or identity shifts while living abroad. Online therapy offers flexible, private support wherever you are in the world.
